About Us![]() As I progressed in quilting, I learned various quilting tips and techniques. My favorite was drawing a grid on fat quarters, sewing long straight lines, then cutting apart the fabric and viola -- half square triangles! I would teach this grid technique to any quilter wanting to learn, but I kept thinking how much easier it would be if someone just invented a ruler to draw the grid. Eventually I designed and developed that ruler - my first - which I call the 24 in 24™ ruler, so named because you can get 24 half-square triangles in about 24 minutes (or less). I wanted the ruler to be multi-purpose, so in addition to the 24 half square triangles, you can also use this same ruler to make 96 smaller half square triangles, plus quarter-square triangles, and several other units, too. While developing the 24 in 24 ruler, I realized the same technique of "sewing big pieces of fabric together first, then cutting apart finished units" could be applied to other common quilting blocks -- and other ruler designs came to mind. As they say, the rest is history. In 2010 I applied for several patents associated with these ruler designs and today I have been issued three patents with others still pending. I have been blessed with several of my quilts receiving honors and awards over the years - with one chosen to hang at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas in 2011. The same quilt was published in the book Lone Stars III: A Legacy of Texas Quilts, 1986-2011 by Karoline Patterson Bresenhan and Nancy O'Bryant Puentes, and also chosen to hang at the Texas Quilt Museum in La Grange, Texas in 2012. As Ruler Revolution grew, I "recruited" my husband Glen and designated him the CEO (which really only means he Carries Everything Out when we go somewhere). He is my favorite bookkeeper, body guard, computer assistant, and supporter. He has come a long way learning more about quilting than he ever imagined! Besides being my CEO, his day job is a Certified Financial Planner™ professional (CFP®) and owns his own wealth management company, Starr Financial, in Conroe, Texas. Here at Ruler Revolution we wish each of you happy piecing and may you always be blessed with the love of quilting and great quilting friends as we have. My quilting buddies have been my inspiration for Ruler Revolution and I'm forever thankful. |
